CBN (Cannabinol) For Sleep

By: Molly McCarthy

There are over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant that work directly and indirectly with the endocannabinoid system to maintain homeostasis in the body. The cannabinoids that get the most attention are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannbidiol), but there are many others that have therapuetic effects on the body. CBN, or cannabinol, is an up-and-coming cannabinoid that might just be the next big thing!

CBN was in fact, the first cannabinoid to be identified and isolated by scientists, and it has been studied by scientists for decades.

CBN is produced when THC degrades over time or by being heated or oxygenated and almost never found on hemp that has not flowered. Because Alive Market products are derived from only flowering buds, CBN is one of the cannabinoids found in all our full spectrum products.

Similar to CBD, CBN is not psychoactive and will not get you high like THC will. CBN interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system and has a greater affinity for CB2 receptors, which are found throughout the immune and digestive systems. As with all cannabinoids, CBN works best when used in synergy with other cannabinoids to achieve an entourage effect.

Although CBN has many of the same beneficial effects that other cannabinoids do, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant, and pain relieving properties, it is best known for its sedative effects. CBN is the #1 cannabinoid to help you get a good night’s sleep!
